Halloween: 1981

I don’t remember why we didn’t go back to Ann’s or somewhere else to hold the Halloween party in 1981. Maybe the event had just gotten too big or too drunk or too weird. So we wound up at what had been Dr. Peck’s office which had been empty for some time.

Attendance was up…costumes better than ever… but some of the magic was gone. Maybe we were trying too hard. Maybe it was the strain of trying to top last year’s costume. Who knows. And a search of the archives might reveal other, more mundane reasons why this was The Last Halloween Party. But I don’t even remember anyone making a run at having the party after this.

Costumes of note: Paul Bankston (Incredible Hulk) and Terry McVey (Father Guido Sarducci) tied for 1st Place this year; Pam Bankston was Joan Crawford; and Everett Mobley’s “Indiana Jones.” But RP once again raised the bar… some sort of a demon in a sleeveless velour suit. You had to be there. Which isn’t a bad epitaph for the Halloween parties. You really had to be there.
